CARAMELISED ONION-BACON CHEESE BURGER
Ingredients
- 8 Brito’s Texas/Budget/Six Gun/Chicken Burger Patties
- 8 buns
- 8 slices cheddar cheese
- 16 slices back/prime cut/streaky bacon
- 1 head lettuce
- 4 tomatoes
- 4 tablespoons butter/olive oil
- 1 red onion, thinly sliced
Method
- Preheat oven to 180°C and line a baking sheet with tin foil
- Spread your bacon evenly across the sheet. Bake for 15 – 18 minutes, or until perfectly crispy (timing depends on how thick/thin the bacon cut you are using is) Once cooked, set aside on a plate to cool.
- Next, make the caramelised onions. Thinly slice the onion and heat your butter or olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Once the pan is hot, add the onions in and continuously stir until they are soft.
- Once they start to brown, turn the heat to low.
- While the onions are cooking, grill burgers until they have reached your desired doneness.
- Once the patties are done, prepare your toppings. Toast your buns on the grill or in a toaster if desired and chop your lettuce & tomato.
- Finally, assemble your burgers in this order: bun on the bottom, then lettuce, tomato, burger patty, bacon slices, cheese slice, more lettuce, caramelised onions, and finally, the top bun.
Enjoy!
