• 8 Brito’s Texas/Budget/Six Gun/Chicken Burger Patties
  • 8 buns
  • 8 slices cheddar cheese
  • 16 slices back/prime cut/streaky bacon
  • 1 head lettuce
  • 4 tomatoes
  • 4 tablespoons butter/olive oil
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C and line a baking sheet with tin foil
  2. Spread your bacon evenly across the sheet. Bake for 15 – 18 minutes, or until perfectly crispy (timing depends on how thick/thin the bacon cut you are using is) Once cooked, set aside on a plate to cool.
  3. Next, make the caramelised onions. Thinly slice the onion and heat your butter or olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
  4. Once the pan is hot, add the onions in and continuously stir until they are soft.
  5. Once they start to brown, turn the heat to low.
  6. While the onions are cooking, grill burgers until they have reached your desired doneness.
  7. Once the patties are done, prepare your toppings. Toast your buns on the grill or in a toaster if desired and chop your lettuce & tomato.
  8. Finally, assemble your burgers in this order: bun on the bottom, then lettuce, tomato, burger patty, bacon slices, cheese slice, more lettuce, caramelised onions, and finally, the top bun.
