
Eisbein Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 onion, quartered
- 1 carrot, chopped
- 1 bay leaf
- Water
- 2 Brito’s Eisbeins
Cooking Steps:
- Start by placing the eisbeins into a large cooking pot.
- Add the bay leaf, chopped onion, and carrot to the pot.
- Pour enough water into the pot to cover the eisbeins.
- Place the pot on the stovetop and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Once it’s boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for approximately 2 hours.
- When the eisbeins become tender, carefully remove them from the pot.
- Gently wipe the meat with a clean cloth and then make diagonal cuts on the skin. Sprinkle salt over the skin for seasoning.
- For a crispy texture, smoke the pork shanks on a hot grill. Turn them regularly to ensure even crispiness.
- To enhance the flavour, consider serve the dish with a side of apple puree and roasted potatoes or mash.
